It took time to find, but eventually I stumbled upon recent news from July 2008 where Microsoft on WPC (Worldwide Partner Conference) announced availability of Windows Small Business Server 2008 and Windows Essential Business Server 2008. These products will ship on November 12th 2008. The significance of this announcement becomes clear once realization is made that these products will include SQL Server 2008.
We now know that SQL server will definitely be available by November 12th 2008 and generally it is released some time before the business version of windows.
