When will SQL Server 2008 be available finally?

If you have been eagerly awaiting SQLServer 2008, you know by now that the February 2008 deadline was moved indefinitely. It is now August 2008 and the SQL Server was not yet released. How much longer? Actually not much. Microsoft has released RC0, the release candidate two months ago. This version still had some major issues such as the one described in KB 955628 "SQL Server 2008 crashes when the Sqlservr.exe program is configured to use large pages", however, things are afoot that indicate we're only days or weeks away.

Large number of outstanding KB issues were recently updated and SQL server 2008 is on August price list and Microsoft expects to release the SQL 2008 to manufacturing in next few weeks. You won't be able to buy SQL Server 2008 until after September 1st because media will not be ready until then but we can only hope that SQL Server 2008 Express Edition dowload will be made available ahead of actual retail versions.
