GMail for your domain (email hosted at google)

With google appliances for business you can host your own domain with google mail. When considering whether to use an email server with your own domain hosting provider or with google, consider following:

• Does my email traffic count against bandwidth quota?
• Does my email storage count against storage quota?
• Do i get reliable web interface access to my email?
• Do I have both IMAP and POP3 options for downloads?
• How many backup email servers do I get?

With google email you do not get limit on bandwidth. Your mailbox limit would be about 7GB at the time of this article and growing every day. You get managed 7 email servers, which means that the actual number of servers is higher but you get to advertise through your MX records 7 separate servers at the same time.

You need to own the domain and be able to modify the DNS settings. You go to google apps at google.com/a and sign up for free business account. Then you fill in domain information and choose verification method. I suggest using CNAME method for verification since obviously you already have access to your DNS settings. After verifying the domain follow instructions on setting up mail exchange entries. Then set up your email addresses and distribution lists and you're done. It's that easy.
