Plasma, projection, CRT or LCD?

In terms of technology, CRT, the standard cathode ray tube is the oldest technology, yet it provides superior quality, reaction speed and life compared to any other of new technologies. The drawback - you are looking at a huge and heavy piece. You will not be able to acquire 60 inch CRT as those would have to weigh somewhere in neighborhood of 300 pounds or more. If you require smaller display, you should at least consider looking at the quality that the CRT system will provide before you go and head towards projection of flat TVs.

Projection TVs are not good for everyone and every situation. The problem with projection TV is that you cannot see it in middle of the day when it is bright outside. Notice how projection TVs are always stuck somewhere in dark corner of your favorite electronic appliance store? It's there for reason. It does not perform. If you are planning on building dark room theatre with huge screen, then it is ok to consider projection as it will provide larger and cheaper image than any other technology. Most of us make it past both CRT and projections to end up in front of LCD and Plasma tvs.
