USB 3.0 is coming, are you ready?

The new standard for USB 3.0 calls for speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second. More than 10 times the USB 2.0 and faster than the new, second generation SATA (3 gigabits) or FireWire 800 (with 800 megabits, or 0.8 gigabit.) You'll have to wait for USB 3.0 to finalize specs so it won't be available any time soon.

USB 3.0 will be backwards compatible with existing USB but through a different communication path. The USB 3.0 is fiber based communication, so the optics will channel data through the optical fibre while USB 2.0 and older will use standard cabling.
